Mail magic
Alyssa, the receptionist at LaurelHurst and LaurelWoods, has brought an extra touch of heart to mail call for the Magnolia Trails residents by thoughtfully writing each one a personalized, handwritten card. What was once a routine part of the week has now become a moment residents truly look forward to—filled with anticipation, joy, and the simple pleasure of receiving something made just for them.
Each card reflects Alyssa’s care and creativity, often including uplifting messages, friendly notes, or cheerful drawings that brighten the day. Residents light up with big smiles as they open their letters, sharing their joy with one another and displaying their cards proudly in their rooms. It’s a small act that’s made a big impact—fostering a deeper sense of connection, belonging, and warmth within the community.
Alyssa’s kindness and dedication haven’t gone unnoticed. Her thoughtful gestures remind everyone of the power of human connection and the joy that comes from making others feel seen and appreciated. Thank you, Alyssa, for your incredible heart and for all that you do to make Magnolia Trails a truly special place to call home.

Blooms & bonds
New resident Mikie brought beauty and creativity to Independence Village of East Lansing this week by hosting her very first floral arrangement class! With a welcoming smile and a true passion for flowers, Mikie guided fellow residents through the art of arranging fresh blooms, sharing helpful tips, fun facts about different flowers, and her own personal stories along the way.
Residents were delighted to learn from Mikie, who made the experience not only informative but also incredibly engaging and fun. The room was filled with laughter, conversation, and the wonderful fragrance of fresh flowers as neighbors connected over their shared love of creativity. Many residents remarked how refreshing it was to try something new—and even more meaningful to learn from one of their own.
The class was such a hit that Mikie is already planning a second session, with even more residents eager to join in. Her warm spirit, generosity, and enthusiasm have quickly made her a beloved part of the community. She’s not only brought color and life through flowers, but also through the connections she’s sparked.
Welcome home, Mikie! Your talents and kindness are already making a beautiful difference.
