Festive highlights: from centennial celebrations to reindeer visits and holiday feasts

The Waterford at Plymouth kicked off a fun new tradition, thanks to Zach, their Activities Director, with a holiday decoration contest. Residents spent the day decorating their wheelchairs, walkers, and canes with tinsel, bows, and other festive touches. The activity was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get creative and add some holiday flair to their everyday mobility aids. Laughter filled the room as residents shared ideas and admired each other’s festive designs, creating a sense of excitement and camaraderie throughout the event.

After the decorations were complete, residents posed by the beautifully adorned Christmas tree for photos. Everyone gathered to vote for their favorite decorated mobility aid, and Peggy emerged as the winner, securing seven more votes than the closest competitor. The celebration was a great success, leaving everyone in high spirits.

It was a delightful way to spread holiday cheer and bring extra joy to daily essentials, making the season even more special for all involved. Great job to Zach and the team!

Centennial celebration

Jim, a resident of The Oaks at Plainfield, celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends! The community went all out to make the occasion special, serving Jim’s favorite dishes, including fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and a delicious cake. As the room filled with laughter and love, Jim’s eyes sparkled with joy. His family shared heartfelt memories, and many of the residents took a moment to express their admiration for Jim’s incredible milestone. It was a celebration of not just his age, but of the wealth of experiences and relationships he’s built over the years.

Jim couldn’t have been happier as he enjoyed the company of his loved ones and the festive atmosphere. The air was filled with warmth as everyone joined in singing “Happy Birthday” to mark the occasion. Jim reflected on his remarkable journey, expressing gratitude for his health, family, and the community that has been such an important part of his life. Surrounded by those who care for him, Jim’s 100th birthday was truly a moment to remember. Happy 100th birthday, Jim!

Reindeer visit

Santa surprised the residents of Georgetowne Place during their Holiday Feast, bringing along one of his reindeer! At first, the residents couldn’t believe their eyes, unsure if it was part of the festivities or a holiday miracle. But as the reindeer, dressed in a cozy fair isle sweater and adorned with colorful baubles, stood proudly before them, the magic of the moment became real. The residents’ faces lit up with joy and wonder, and they quickly lined up to take photos with the majestic animal, marveling at its size and beauty.

For many, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as they had never seen a reindeer up close before. The excitement and awe in the room were palpable, as residents shared their delight and snapped pictures to remember the special occasion. The reindeer’s gentle presence added an extra touch of holiday magic to the celebration. The residents were truly grateful to Santa for making their holiday feast an unforgettable event, one they would cherish for years to come.
